Image result for measuring the shank length on a horse's bit
Definition of Shank Length:  For shank measurement purposes for horse shows and general bit descriptions – an imaginary line is drawn on the inside of the bit from the point where the headstall is attached to the bit, through the butt to the point where rein pressure is applied on the rein ring of the bit.

Myler Eggbutt 10mm Low Port Wide Barrel Comfort Snaffle MB04 is a level 2 bit meaning it is designed for a young, green or a steady disposition horse or for retraining/training a new discipline. Level 2 Bits are also recommended for horses showing resistance to a level 1 bit. MB04 mouthpiece features a wide barrel and low port offering more tongue relief than level 1 mouthpieces.

TOKLAT MYLER MOUTHPIECE LEVELS:

The mouthpiece Levels start at Level 1, which apply maximum tongue pressure, and go up to Level 3, which apply minimum tongue pressure and offer the most tongue relief.   Most horses can avoid Level 1 altogether; it’s quite possible that your horse can enter the Myler System at Level 2, 2-3, or even 3.
