The Dublin Tom Thumb Pelham is a good choice for horses who need a little more control than a snaffle provides but still need a gentle mouthpiece. The mullen mouthpiece is a fixed mouthpiece which puts pressure on the tongue and lips with less pressure on the bars. This is a useful mouthpiece for horses who have a soft mouth or who avoid bit contact. Horses who lean on the bit may not benefit from the mullen mouth. The curb chain fits snugly behind the jaw and comes into play when the reins are employed, encouraging the horse to flex at the poll.
