In excellent used condition, this is a very nice All Around western saddle, beautifully made in medium oil leather. The saddle was seen here by the actual maker of this saddle and he is able to give us full details of it’s specification. (awaiting info subject to its stamp numbers). Real sheepskin fleece panels. Made in America. In fact it is a replica of the original Legacy Drover saddle which is currently in a museum and the original was made circa 1846.
We have received some lovely response from a lady who has her own custom made Legacy saddle and this is what she told us: “I cannot believe you have one of these. As far as I can tell, Legacy is no longer in business. It was run by Dave and Donna, a husband and wife team out of Berryville, VA. Dave comes from a long line of saddle makers. Donna was an art historian. All of their designs were modeled after designs from the past.
This saddle would have been hand made and likely custom made for someone. The tree is varnished rawhide and the leather is all hand tooled..
I have a Legacy Tejas and it is truly a treasure. I paid $2500 for it to be custom made for me in 2007-2008. I wish I needed another saddle as I would buy this one in a heartbeat. Actually, I am still considering it. :-)”
