We currently have two identical Equation saddles in-store, and they have consecutive stamp numbers. (See Equation 5042-1). This saddle has an 18ins seat and we measured it to have a medium-wide to wide fitting. 17ins drop on the saddle flaps from the stirrup bar. This saddle has Wellep stirrup bars, which allows the rider to position his/her stirrups according to her anatomy. It should be mentioned that this saddle has some fading to brown over the seat area (as shown), and it is not known whether this saddle has been dyed black from brown, or just that the black has faded into the natural leather.
Equation saddles by George Gullikson, who, through his equine biomechanical and engineering experience, has devoted his time to designing saddles to fit horses and their riders as accurately as possible, with a view to the fact that horses change shape, as do their owners. He now designs and markets Equine Inspired saddles. George is sensitive to the differences between the female and the male anatomy as pelvic shapes differ quite dramatically. In addition, the horse’s conformation is of paramount importance to ensure a delightful experience for both horse and rider.
This Equation saddle is in good and sound condition, showing expected signs of wear with no visible flaws as discussed. It features soft and pliable textured black leather, with a large, supportive thigh block. A very useful feature is the multi-position Wellep stirrup bars which allow the rider to adjust the position of the stirrup leathers. Roomy gullet channel.
The Equation’s tree tends to be straight and would be an excellent match for a horse with a straight, flat back.
