The Combination Bits DISPERSE PRESSURE to the nose, mouth, chin, and poll areas. The light-weight design works well for all disciplines.

The Combination Bits are VERSATILE, offering different options for leverage and function. You can attach a single rein to 3 different areas on the bit- the nose rope, the lower area of the shank or the shank at the corner of the mouth. You can use double reins in combination to any of the 3 areas.

Attaching a rein to the NOSE ROPE puts mild pressure across the nose and takes some concussion out of the mouth. It softens the feel of the bit, and slows it’s action by dispersing the pressure to 4 areas on the head. The nose, mouth, chin and poll.

Attaching a rein to the LOWER SHANK area makes the bit function in a direct way with more leverage. Attaching a rein to the SHANK AT THE CORNER OF THE MOUTH provides a milder direct pressure on the bit. The shank options delete the nose pressure. The rope does not need to be removed, it will stay in place.

The unique MOUTHPIECE is wide, flat and slow activating. It does not roll over fully or quickly and gives the horse time to react to a request in a non-abrupt way. It is non-pinching, with a copper roller that stimulates saliva, keeps a nervous horse pacified, and encourages the horse to loosen and soften in the jaw.

The Combination Bit DISCOURAGES bit evasions like head tossing and high headedness, pulling, rooting, and defensive, nervous behaviors. The Bit ENCOURAGES responsiveness, correct head carriage, lateral and vertical flexion, collection, control, and relaxation. Excellent for COMPETITIVE events like Barrel Racing, Penning, or Jumping, yet extremely popular for Trail/Pleasure riding. GAITED Riders can maintain a steady connection and encourage collection, helping the horse maintain their proper gaits consistently, without over-bitting, resulting in a smoother ride.

Description

The Mikmar Bit Company started in 1953 with the invention of the Training Bit.This lightweight bit (14 ounces) was designed to develop vertical flexion, lateral flexion, or just a good mouth. It is the most outstanding, tried and proven training bit yet perfected. The bit was invented back in the early 50’s by all-around horseman, Trainer Frank Evans, who, by unanimous vote from the American Horse Show Association, was awarded the highly prestigious Judges Emeritus Award. In his work as a professional horse trainer, he made a training bit to accomplish these main objectives:

  • An all-around bit for everyday use on trail and in arena.
  • Effective results without abuse.
  • A bit with three pressure points – nose, jaw, and bar or tongue.
  • To put pressure at the most responsive points.
  • To maintain the horse’s soft, fresh mouth over time.
  • To protect the horse’s mouth while a new rider was learning to ride.
  • To provide a satisfactory transition when changing from a snaffle to a hard or leverage bit.
  • Professional results for the amateur trainer.
