This lovely, very comfortable  Ludomar Almonte Mixta doma vaquera saddle is in excellent, gently used condition.  Comes with girth, stirrups, etc.  Saddle made with a flexible tree, which is guaranteed for six years under normal conditions of use.  (We believe this saddle is 3 years old).  Equipped with a front pommel so that the rider can hold on better. Panels flocked with latex. This saddle measures 16ins at seat level from just behind the pommel to the base of the cantle.  The length of the saddle is approx. 24ins measured along the side, from front to back.  Boxcalf leather.  Exquisitely tooled.  Ludomar saddles are distributed by Viva Iberica.

The silla vaquera mixta saddle is basically a vaquera or vaquero saddle with a raised section, called a ‘borren’, just behind the pommel. This is included for added rider security and comfort.  This is not a true ‘traditional’ Spanish saddle, but is becoming a popular choice with riders as a general purpose or country riding saddle and can now be seen in the Spanish Feria. The vaquera mixta saddle is not allowed in Doma Vaquera competition.  In Spanish, ‘silla’, meaning saddle, is ‘feminine’ hence the correct spelling for the saddle is vaquera rather than vaquero. Perhaps because it is used by the vaquero (cowboy) the masculine spelling is sometimes used – although there are female riders – vaqueras. In ‘correct Spanish’ it is the silla vaquera.
